The Thunder King

A tyrant, a dictator, a monster of a being that ruled an empire that spanned a continent. The Thunder King was a powerful master of wind and storm. For even his name was meant to strike fear into the hearts of those who heard it. For Thunder proclaims the coming of the storm. Thunder quakes the skies and thunder echoes through the hills long after lightning is long gone. Thunder soon became the kings namesake and what an dynesty he lead.

Like all Mogu, the Thunder King's past is much like the rest of his bro. He was a project of the Titans. The great and powerful gods that had carved them out of stone. But when the Curse of Flesh came upon his people and mayhem consumed their hearts as they vied for control Lei Shen did what no other Mogu could. He united his people with great and terrifying power.

The Kings legends was like most tyrants. For long ago it is said that he obtained his power when he went into the dark mountain that is now Thunder Isle. There he consumed the powers of the guardian there and began to go forth and claim what he believed to be the work of his creators.

So with that the Thunder King took control of his people. He created an army out of them. He molded the land to his ways and built many of the great structures that are in Pandaria to this day. Including the great wall that protects the Veil of Eternal Blossoms. He constructed the Mogu Shen place and even the Mogu Shen vaults where he placed many of his fiendish creations. On the Thunder isle, he experimented with the powers left behind by the Titans and created monsters of terrible make. Including the Dark Animus, Dorumu, and other monsters that lurk within the Isle.

He then enslaved Pandaria. Taking the inhabitants and making them do his bidding. And no matter where he went the boom of Thunder echoed across the skies and proclaimed his coming. The people of the land huddled in fear of the dreadful sound.

But unlike most dark entities the King fell into death at some point in the past. This was strange given that the tyrant had control over various Titan technology. And it seemed odd to me that he fell like that. But like all things in life he too had to meet his maker at some point. But obviously that was not the end of his rule.

For years he slept in death's embrace until the Zandalari came and brought him back to life. In this new world the Thunder King was ushered into. And he soon made plans to rebuild what he had lost. To make people fear the coming storm that was him.

Now this established history is part of what made this character so compelling to me. You see if Blizzard had not given this King his kingdom, the riches and terrifying claims he would not be such a threat. I mean think about it, what does a King truly stand for. Is it what he is? Who he is? No it is what he does. What he leaves behind for those afterwards is what truly makes a King last forever.

It is in this that the Thunder King proves what an impressive villain he is. After all, look at all he has done. He first consumed the powers of storm and captured the Guardian that lay within the mountain of Thunder. From there he created a universal language, built cities, captured slaves. Inspired fear to this day. Legends of him forever were set in the minds of the people of Pandaria because of his one choice to carry out the will of the Titans as he saw fit.

People forget often enough that it is choices that make a King live or dye. How his acts can change the fate of his own kingdoms for better or for worse. This change into the great and powerful King was shift and sudden much like lightning that he controlled. But it boomed throughout the world forever.

Like thunder.

And that is why he is a great villain in my mind. He dominated. He controlled and above all else he establish his empire.

Garrosh Hellscream

What would you do for your people? What would you do in order to secure a lasting peace for your kind? Would you go to the ends of the earth to get them land, food, supplies. To restore your people to former glory that you believe to be theirs

This is what makes Garrosh a great villian. But also a tragic character to say the least
Garrosh Hellscream is the son of Grom. He was born in Outlands. He was wrought with weakness of both body and spirit (in that order) when he was young. He fell sick due to epidemic and also later a depression upon hearing that his father, had become a raving monster who had made a pact with demons to increase his own powers with fighting for the Ancient Horde. These events were only the beginning of his journey for when the Dark Portal reopened and Thrall, the at time warchief, came to uplift the Mag'har Garrosh learned of his fathers heroic deeds to clense the orcs of their demonic taint and was thus uplifted himself.

This however started a change in the young orc. From the get go he was much against the policies that Thrall implamented for the Horde. He was young and headstrong believing in that they should be doing all they can to survive and to take what they should to keep their people safe. For living in the lands of Durotar was not an easy life by any stretch. He clashed constently with Thrall till he finally challaged him for leadership of the Horde. But the coming of the Lich King forstalled any of his ambitions. Instead he was placed in charge of the Horde army and sent to Northrend to deal with the risen Undead Scorge.

His heroics, and the breaking of the world placed the young and brash Garrosh into the seat of Warchief of the Horde. This change in leadership shifted the foundations of the Horde itself. For once the Horde was created by a group of like minded individuals who work together to survive in this world. The Trolls, Tauren, Forsaken, Blood Elfs, and eventually the newest members of the Horde, the Goblins and later Panderian all felt the sting of Garrosh as he began to change the Horde into the war machine he craved.

But that was what he thought was nessisary. The Horde, in Garrosh's mind, did not deserve the treatement it had been given from the Alliance. He saw them as mearly an obsitcle. They needed to be put down and cast aside so that the Horde could have the best future. Garrosh was so fixated on this though. He saw anything that did not comply with him to be disposable. He began to change as he sought power. Power that would help build him an army to help stop

This soon had the Horde tareing itself apart. This once great faction soon began to crumble at the seems. As Garrosh saw the petty scwables of the Horde nothing in comparison to others. He mearly saw the other members of the Horde as mearly tools to used and disposed. The Blood Elves he used to capture ancient artifacts the ended up having them expelled from the great city of Dalaren. The Trolls were quarentined and their leader Vol'jin had an attempt on his own life. The Forsaken were even used as nothing but foder and even the Tauren were nothing but war engines. The goblins even lost as they never did get their payment for many of the things Garrosh asked them to do.

That being said Garrosh continued to move forward. He continued to strive for dominance. The war with him is starting to come to an end though. As the Seige of Orgrimar is fast coming the Horde and Alliance both seek to end Garrosh's reign as warchief. For now he has gained power that could well be beyond his own control.

But that is the price Garrosh wants to pay for the survival of his people. He believes firmly that nothing should be taboo. Nothing should be forsaken and that all cards should be put into play so that the Horde can become the only faction that controls Azeroth. This continued choice to become all he can be for the sake of his people is what makes him a great villain.

For there is nothing he will do, or destroy, to make sure life continues for the Garrosh's Horde

The Lich King

What makes a good villain? That is a question people ask themselves when trying to come up with a powerful monster or creature that gamers have to face at the end of their long journey. The concept of a good villain though can take on many different forms. There are those who are born into it. There are some who seek out the dark corners of evil and take up the mantle of it, but then there are some who are turned from the goodness of their own hearts and made into evil.

There are many villains in the Warcraft universe. Many of them have dark pasts, others however were actually born into the Light and were destined for great things. If they had only chosen correctly. Today we will be looking at one of the most iconic villains in the WOW franchise. One that was the most known and by far one of the most interesting to read upon for The Lich King was a man who once championed for the good of his people and now only wanted to end their lives.

Arthas Menethil is an interesting character. He is a classic portrayal of the tragic hero who fell into dark thoughts and soon became one of the most powerful beings on the face of Azeroth. The path that he took to that downfall is what truly makes him a good villain. He exemplifies that even the most noble of intentions can lead to destruction and death.

Arthas path started when he was forced to deal with the plague that infested Lordaeron and during this time he began to exemplify the need to save his people. Even going so far as to purge and entire city to save the rest of his kingdom. It was at this point when his dark side began to appear. As the shadow of vengeance and misguided justice began to take over his mind and drive his actions.

How does this make him a good villain you may ask? Well ask yourself this would you be willing to sacrifice hundreds to save millions? That is a choice that ultimately made him go from holy paladin to grey warrior who while still sought justice would do anything to save his people.

And he did just that. As he followed Mal'Ganis, the dark overlord to Northrend he then heard of the runeblade Frostmourne. He chose to make this path of vengeance his own and sought out the cursed blade despite Muridins warnings. A moment that forever changed him when he sacrificed his friend in order to wield the mighty blade.

And thus his fate was sealed.

Arthas's path then became one of murder, death and destruction. He rode forth with the blade as a Death Knight and champion of the thing he once sought to rid the world of. And this is what turns Arthas into a good villain. He become memorable not for the monstrous deeds that he performs, but for the tragic fall that made him into the creature he is today.

But that does not mean that his deeds could not go unnoticed. The undead master of the Scourge chose to unleash his armies on the continents of Azeroth and forced the adventurers to follow in his own dark path through Northrend. He wanted the most powerful army and through cunny he allowed Tirion Fordring to assemble this group and proved just how powerful he was when he killed them all in one single stroke of his blade.

The sheer power of Arthas when he in control of the Lich Kings powers was immense. He wielded the powers of cold, and darkness to great effect. He shaped the continent of Northrend with his might tearing it apart and forming the massive army. He corrupted many others and turned people into new Death Knights who helped him destroy and ravage parts of Northern Lorderan. His deeds as the Lich King echo forever in the minds of those who have faced him, and forever burned into the souls of those who were raised by him into undeath.

Arthas is a true villain because of his dark path. This is what made him so memorable. He once began his journey a person devoted to the safety and wellbeing of his own people. He was on his way to making himself into a great and noble king. But like most things he too fell from grace when he made a noble choice for the wrong reasons. His choice forever marked the world of Azeroth with ice and death.

And that is what makes him a great villian
